This just in from ace Florida Today staff writer John Torres:
Former NASA Astronaut was suffering from a laundry list of mental afflictions when she confronted her romantic rival at Orlando International Airport in February, according to court documents filed by her attorney on Tuesday.
Defense attorney Donald Lykkebak informed the court that he intends to rely on the insanity defense for Nowak's upcoming trial. The motion does not challenge Nowak's ability to stand trial. The documents suggest Nowak was insane at the time of the confrontation.
The document claims Nowak was suffering from the following: obsessive-compulsive disorder, partner relational problem, major depressive disorder, insomnia, brief psychotic disorder with marked stressors, asperger's disorder, obsessive-compulsive personality disorder, loss of body mass, problems with primary support group, marital separation, problems related to social environment, inadequate social support system and inability to confide in social contacts.
