NASA inspects tank for Atlantis mission

The newly-arrived external tank for the planned Aug. 28 launch of shuttle Atlantis is undergoing inspections in the checkout cell of the Kennedy Space Center Vehicle Assembly Building.

The tank arrived late last week. Technicians will have to replace suspect fuel gauges in the bottom of the tank, but that work should be completed in time to send Atlantis aloft on a mission to resume assembly of the International Space Station.
