Shuttle managers meet as work on Atlantis proceeds.

Shuttle program managers are meeting this morning for the first of two formal reviews of Atlantis' readiness to launch the final shuttle mission July 8.

A second flight readiness review including top NASA executives is planned next Tuesday, when the launch date will be made official, if all is going well.

Crews at launch pad 39A continue to inspect the shuttle's external tank and work to replace a main fuel valve on one of three shuttle main engines.

Meanwhile, outside pad 39B, four Atlantis astronauts are being trained to drive a turret-less M113 tank they would use to flee the launch pad in an emergency.

On Thursday, they'll strap into Atlantis for a launch dress rehearsal.
