U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords continues to await doctors' approval to travel to Kennedy Space Center for the planned April 29 launch of Endeavour and six astronauts led by her husband, Mark Kelly, according to a statement from her office today.
Giffords is at TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, rehabillitating from a brain injury suffered during a Jan. 8 shooting rampage during a constituent event outside a supermarket in her district in Tucson, Ariz.
The Democratic congresswoman's staff is making plans for her to attend the launch pending medical approval.
Giffords would not meet with the media or make any statement while in Florida if she is cleared to make the trip, according to the statement. Her chief of staff and communications director would hold a press conference after the launch, which is now targeted for 3:47 p.m.
