USA identifies employee in launch pad fall

United Space Alliance has identified the employee who died today after falling from a Kennedy Space Center launch pad as engineer James D. Vanover.

“Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Mr. Vanover,” said Virginia Barnes, USA's CEO, in a statement. “Our focus right now is on providing support for the family, and for his coworkers. We are also providing our full support to investigating officials in order to determine the cause of the incident as quickly as possible. Until that investigation is complete, it would be inappropriate to provide further comment on the details.”
Work at launch pad 39 A has been suspended since the incident, which occurred before 8 a.m., and counseling and other assistance is being provided to employees.
