Glisch and Yates named Kolcum winners

The National Space Club of Florida recently named John Glisch, Florida Today Editorial Page Editor, and Tracy Yates, United Space Alliance Communications and Public Relations Manager, the 2010 Harry Kolcum Memorial News and Communications Award Winners.

Named for the late aerospace writer who worked for Aviation Week & Space Technology, the Kolcum award recognizes the contributions of professional journalists and communicators to inform the public about launch operations from the Cape.

"John and Tracy have helped tell the story of the important accomplishments of the U. S. space program at Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center," said Dr. Stephen Feldman, National Space Club Florida committee chairman. "Their efforts are imperative in informing the public and maintaining support for an industry that is vital not only to central Florida but the nation. The Space Club is proud to acknowledge their achievements."

Glisch’s career spans 35 years, with 25 years spent as a reporter, editor and editorial writer covering every aspect of the space program from shuttle flights and deep space exploration to politics in Washington.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with more than 25 years experience in the communications field, Yates began working in the space industry in 2004 as a media relations specialist for USA.
