Discovery Crew Headed To KSC For Practice Countdown

The astronauts who will fly shuttle fleet leader Discovery on its last mission are heading to Kennedy Space Center to take part in a practice countdown for their planned Nov. 1 launch to the International Space Station.

Flying in four Northrup T-38 Talon jets, the six astronauts are scheduled to arrive at the Shuttle Landing Facility here at KSC around 5 p.m. You can watch live NASA TV coverage of the arrival here in The Flame Trench. The crew includes (left to right in this photo) mission specialists Timothy Kopra and Al Drew, pilot Eric Boe, mission commander Steven Lindsey, and mission specialists Michael Barratt and Nicole Stott.

Stott is one of three former KSC workers to ascend to the NASA Astronaut Corps and fly in space. She will be making her second spaceflight on the upcoming mission.
