Obama proposes more money to help aerospace workers

The Space Coast isn't the only area being targeted for extra federal assistance to help laid off aerospace workers.

President Barack Obama wants to direct $60 million to spur job development and help workers in other regions that will be affected by the end of the shuttle program and the cancellation of the return-to-the-moon Constellation program. That's in addition to the $40 million already announced to help the Space Coast.

The $100 million in funding will come from the part of the exploration budget dedicated to cancelling Constellation.

Obama included the funding change in an updated 2011 budget request. NASA's overal budget request didn't change.

Gosh... When part of the nations space program budget has to go to support for the space workers that are being laid off because of the space program, makes me think we don't really have a space program. Just more government give-aways. My hats off to those affected. Your effeorts have kept the US in the number one seat in manned space flight for generations. Looks like now the plan is for us to relinquish that spot. Too bad.......

When will Osama figure out that Americans work an honest day for an honest pay! Not everyone wasn't a freakin' handout... Some actually work for what they believe in!
