Longtime NASA Leader At Stennis, Johnson, Dies At Age 71

Former Stennis Space Center Director Roy Estess, who also served a stint as the directpr of Johnson Space Center at was at the helm of the Texas field center at the time of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, died at age 71.

A native Mississippian and a graduate of Mississippi State University, Estess started his NASA career in 1966 as a test engineer and worked his way up through the ranks to managerial positions of increasing responsibility.
