About 300 business and community leaders who attended a half-day summit Friday seeking ways to soften the blow of impending layoffs at KSC will continue to meet online in coming months.
Leaders who attended the five-hour summit discussed ways they can pool resources to provide skills training to help displaced workers transition to new employers or industries, attract new businesses to the region and encourage entrepreneurship.
Economic workforce advisers Ed Morrison and Linda Fowler will condense participants' ideas into a 5- or 6-page strategic plan that will be posted online, Brevard Workforce president Lisa Rice said.
Attendees will be able to upload documents, exchange ideas and set up meetings to accomplish their goals prior to the retirement of the space shuttle program later this year.

The sad thing is Obama doesn't give a rat's arse about anyone affected by his cancellation of the shuttle and Constellation. He has the power to keep both active, and close the gap like he promised. Instead, he's blowing it wide open...and probably laughing at everyone scrambling. He's evil.

That's right, it is sad, and it seems like Senator Nelson hints of going along with it, but that's not definite. Did you notice a funny thing about the President's summit, that he just respoke the already given, apalling dates of 2025 and 2030? We had a moon2020 goal, which would have honored the multitudes who sacrificed to build our human spaceflight program, a goal they could easily live to see. A goal which would massively enrgize our spacce program, our slipping classroom acheivement levels, and our nation as a whole.
The good news is that the President added heavy lift. Now we've got to bombard Congress and the President to simply put back the powerful, solid, energizing goal of the moon2020 language.

Another way to put the main thought stated above is that all those who sacrificed to bring America's greatest acheivement of all, human beings reaching the moon, all those who've been waiting for America to capitalize on their great work and acheivement, to see the dream of a return to stay and a NASA lab module established on our closest celestial neighbor, under the President's proposals many of them may pass on before America ever returns, and probably before NASA even begins major human spaceflight again.
So President Obama (hopefully not Senator Nelson), in pushing the new proposals, instead of honoring our many heroes who got us into space, is ignoring and dishonoring them.
Let's keep up the pressure. Let's keep telling our Senators and Representatives, restore this solid 2020 moon goal for NASA and for our nation NOW.
