New York politicos confident they'll get retired space shuttle

New York politicians are telling local media that NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden has given them positive signs that the city might get one of the space shuttle orbiters after retirement.

The political lobbying continues to heat up. Check out what New York political leaders are saying in this article from the New York Daily News.

The New York Post published this editorial March 13.

Why New York? It should be Washington, DC, Florida and Califorinia. Move Enterprise to Texas.

I agree... Actually, the major Shuttle centers should get them: KSC, JSC, Marshall, etc...I personally do not care where they go, but, New York seems wrong!!!

What in the world does New York have to do with the space program? The three flown space shuttles should go to JSC, KSC, & MSFC.

Don't forget DFRC. After all the orbiters were built in Palmdale and spent a lot of time on the Edwards runway and MDD area.

There are three orbiters and by coincidence exactly three locations already established in the public's mind as places to see manned spacecraft on display - Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, KSC and JSC. The three orbiters should go to those three. Enterprise in theory would go to Dryden however that is not a good location for public viewing so I think it should be moved from its current location at Smithsonian to Wright Patterson.
