Live: House panel's opening statements

Norman Augustine, the chairman of President Barack Obama's space panel, is talking about the panel's findings to the members of the House Science and Technology Committee.

Later, former NASA Administrator Michael Griffin, who oversaw the development of the Constellation program and whose cost and timetable are being questioned by Augustine's panel, also will appear at the hearing.

The third witness will be Joe Dyer, chairman of NASA's Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel.
