New NASA administrator Charles Bolden and Deputy Administrator Lori Garver are making their first official comments to NASA employees in a televised "all-hands" meeting.

ATK and NASA unveiled the new 5-segments SRB and the early data in the NASA page say that it "generates a maximum of 3.6 million lbs of thrust, 24 percent more power than one twin Shuttle solid rocket booster":

that is the SAME of the 4+1 segments SRB test ATK and NASA performed in 2003:

but "3.6 million pounds of thrust" of both (4+1 and 5 segments) SRBs are (still) just 9% more than a standard (3.3 Mlbf.) SRB and NOT "24 percent more"
