Live in Orbit: No inspection, boom to be stowed

Endeavour's astronauts woke at 6:33 a.m. to begin another day in space, after Saturday installing the Japanese Exposed Facility, a lab platform to perform science experiments in the vacuum of space.

Since a focused inspection of shuttle heat shields will not be required, the crew will stow the sensing boom that would have been used to take a closer look at 16 dings in the shuttle's thermal tiles. Mission managers believe the damage is too slight to require repair.

Today the shuttle crew will robotically move a spare parts cargo carrier from the shuttle payload bay to the station. A piece of exercise exercise equipment on the station is scheduled for repair.

At 6:28 p.m. EDT, the crew will review Monday's procedures for the second of five spacewalks scheduled during the mission.

On Saturday, spacewalkers Dave Wolf and Tim Kopra spent 5 hours and 32 minutes working outside the shuttle, moving Wolf into 27th in the spacewalker record book with 31 hours and 51 minutes. First time spacewalker Kopra has 5 hours and 32 minutes.

Thomas Marshburn and Wolf will begin the mission's second of five spacewalks Monday at 11:28 a.m. EDT.
