Live at KSC: Lightning threat could pass

Endeavour's 6:51 p.m. launch is now "red" for one weather criteria - the threat of lightning within 10 nautical miles of launch pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center.

However, the threat is from a storm to the south that is expected to leave the area within the next 15 to 20 minutes.

Check out this interactive graphic by Florida Today's Dennis Lowe for a primer on why the shuttle needs to avoid lightning at liftoff.
