Endeavour mission commander Mark Polansky entered the orbiter's crew cabin just before 3:30 p.m. Six more crew members will follow.
Mission managers are tracking a rain shower moving east toward the launch pad.
Pilot Doug Hurley will be the next to board Endeavour. He'll sit next to Polansky, in the flight deck's front, righthand seat .Polansky, an 53-year-old Air Force veteran, is a veteran of two prior shuttle flights, as a pilot in 2001 and a commander in 2006.
Hurley, a 42-year-old Marine Corps lieutenant colonel, is a first-time flyer.
Polansky quickly began communications checks with launch controllers under the moniker of "CDR" for commander.
The seven-person closeout crew, which includes an active astronaut, helps each crew member enter the orbiter and get strapped into their seat.
