Update: Inspection Moves To Nose Cap

Endeavour astronauts have completed their inspection of the orbiter's starboard wing leading edge, and are moving on to the nose cap and left wing.

Mission Management Team chairman LeRoy Cain is scheduled to hold a briefing at 5 p.m. Lead Flight Director Mike Sarafin will follow with a mission status briefing at 8 p.m.

You can watch those briefings live here. Just click on the NASA TV image on the right side of the page to launch a NASA TV viewer.

Endeavour's crew has taken pictures from the crew cabin of an area where flight controllers believe a small strip of insulation may have come loose during launch near the left Orbital Maneuvering System pod. That area is not exposed to temperatures as extreme as the shuttle's wings, nose and belly on re-entry.

The shuttle's robotic arm is expected to take additional images of the insulation during scans of the port wing.

Mission Control reports that systems on the Italian-made Leonardo module carrying nearly 15,000 pounds of cargo are performing well, as are the spacesuits that will be used during four spacewalks.
