See Our Shuttle Landing PhotoFest

Shuttle Endeavour and seven astronauts are back safely on the ground today after a picture-perfect landing at Edwards Air Force Base in California.

The 225-mph landing on Runway 04 at the Mojave Desert military base marked the end of NASA's 124th shuttle mission -- a 6.6-million-mile flight aimed at outfitting the International Space Station for crews of six.

The 15-day, 20-hour, 30-minute and 34-second mission was the fourth and final shuttle flight of 2008, a year that saw the additional of European and Japanese science laboratories at the station.

The Endeavour mission was commanded by veteran astronaut Chris Ferguson and piloted by Eric Boe. Mission specialists included Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper, Stephen Bowen, Don Pettit and Shane Kimbrough.

Current station flight engineer Sandra Magnus flew up to the outpost on Endeavour. She replaced NASA astronaut Gregory Chamitoff, who returned to Earth after more than six months on the station.
