Endeavour Crew Headed To KSC

Endeavour's seven crew members are scheduled to jet into Kennedy Space Center this afternoon, less than three weeks before their planned Nov. 14 launch to the International Space Station.

Commanded by veteran astronaut Chris Ferguson, the crew is expected to arrive between 2:45 p.m. and 4 p.m.

You can track the astronauts' flights in T-38 and modified Gulfstream jets and from Ellington Field in Texas by clicking here.

Ferguson will be joined by Pilot Eric Boe, and mission specialists Steve Bowen, Shane Kimbrough, Sandra Magnus, Donald Pettit and Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper.

While at the space center over the next three days, the astronauts will run through a simulated launch countdown that ends Wednesday morning.

They'll also familiarize themselves with launch pad escape maneuvers, and practice landings on the shuttle landing strip in a modified Gulfstream jet.

On Tuesday morning, the crew will take questions from the media in front of Endeavour at launch pad 39A. You can watch live NASA TV coverage of the event here starting at 8:30 a.m.

Once in orbit, the Endeavour astronauts will outfit the station with enough supplies and furnishings to double its full-time resident crew size from three to six people.

They'll also conduct four spacewalks to work on joints that allow the station's power-generating solar arrays to rotate and track the sun.
