Live at KSC: NASA Aims At Early Rollout

Shuttle Endeavour might get an early start on a 4.2-mile move out to Kennedy Space Center's Launch Complex 39B tonight as managers and meteorologists keep watch on an improving weather outlook.

Its mobile launcher platform mounted atop a giant tracked transporter, Endeavour now is targeted to emerge from the 52-story Vehicle Assembly Building at 11 p.m. -- a little more than an hour before the scheduled first motion at 12:01 a.m.

If all goes well, you should be able to watch what amounts to sequential still video of the move by refreshing this page, which features live video feeds from the Launch Complex 39 area.

The image on the top left should spotlight Endeavour's creep out of the assembly building and then follow the vehicle as it makes it way down the crawlerway toward pad 39B. The image on the right is a video feed at Launch Complex 39A, where Atlantis is being readied for launch.

Assuming no rain or thunderstorms pop up in the next few hours, Endeavour's arrival early Friday at pad 39B will mark the first time since 2001 shuttles have been perched simultaneously on the KSC pads. And it likely will be the last time before the shuttle fleet is retired in 2010.

We'll keep updating through first motion, provide live video feeds throughout the seven-hour move and we'll also webcast live NASA TV coverage of the rollout starting at 6:30 a.m. Simply click the NASA TV box on the righthand side of The Flame Trench to launch our new-and-improved NASA TV viewer. And go to our space chat section to tell us what you think.
