Live at KSC: Crew en route; track the trip

The Atlantis astronauts are on their way to Kennedy Space Center to take part in emergency training and a practice countdown for the planned Oct. 10 launch of NASA's fifth and final Hubble Space Telescope servicing mission.

Two Gulfstream 2 aircraft with support teams members aboard got wheels up at Ellington Air Field near Johnson Space Center at 3:32 p.m. EDT and 3:43 p.m. EDT and are expected to arrive at KSC's Shuttle Landing Facility to 5:32 p.m. EDT and 5:39 p.m. EDT. The astronauts are following in T-38 Talon jets.

You can track the two flights by clicking here: Track The Crew.

We'll also be webcasting NASA TV coverage of the arrival here in The Flame Trench. Simply click the upper left image or the NASA TV box on the righthand side of the page to launch out NASA TV viewer.

Led by mission commander Scott Altman, the crew includes pilot Gregory "Ray J" Johnson and mission specialists John Grunsfeld, Andrew Feustel, Mike Massimino, Mike Good and Megan McArthur.

The payload for the mission was delivered to pad 39A last night but NASA ran into trouble lifting it into the Payload Changeout Room. See the details in the post below.

More information on the astronauts and their trip to KSC also is in that post.
