Tropical Storm Hanna has shifted far enough east that NASA plans to roll shuttle Atlantis to the launch pad today and weather forecasters are predicting minimal impact from the storm at the spaceport. You'll be able to watch the rollout live here today in The Flame Trench, via live video feeds from NASA TV as well as a series of live web cams stationed at various points along the route. Two Kennedy Space Center video cameras stationed at or near Pad 39A are shown above, giving the latest images of the pad. Refresh your page for the latest image at any given moment.
The rollout operation is scheduled to begin around 10 a.m. after being held up by the tropical storm activity in the Atlantic Ocean. The shuttle should arrive at the pad between 4 and 5 p.m.
At 5 a.m. this morning, the latest forecast showed that Tropical Storm Hanna's path is far east of the spaceport. Even the "cone" showing the forecast margin of error is now far off the Space Coast as the storm heads toward the Carolinas.
Later today, you'll be able to see the shuttle moving toward and onto the pad. If other cameras offer better views, we'll add those web cams tomorrow as they become relevant.
You can click on either image to see a larger version and follow the links there to a page containing a couple dozen different live web cams showing various locations around the space center.
Space center officials next may have to watch Hurricane Ike, which is further out in the Atlantic Ocean. That storm is strengthening fast and, as of this morning, was listed as a Category 4 Hurricane on a path that could impact Florida next week.
