While Discovery's astronauts performed a historic spacewalk to repair a torn solar array, shuttle Atlantis rolled over to the Vehicle Assembly Building on Saturday morning at Kennedy Space Center.
Movement of Atlantis from its processing bay began at 7:05 a.m. EDT. Atlantis arrived in the VAB's transfer aisle at 8:03 a.m. Today, Atlantis will be lifted and mated with the external tank and solid rocket boosters that were mated in mid-October and are mounted on a mobile launcher platform.
In early December, Atlantis will launch and deliver the Columbus module to the International Space Station.
Contributed by the European Space Agency, the laboratory will be attached to the Harmony module just delivered by Discovery. Rollout to launch pad 39A is scheduled for Nov. 10.
