Morgan, crewmates honored at Disney World

The crew of the space shuttle Endeavour parade through the Magic Kingdom on Monday during a day at the Disney World Resort in Orlando.

Our tourism reporter, Donna Balancia, filed this dispatch ...

Former schoolteacher Barbara Morgan and the rest of the space shuttle crew from STS-118 were honored today at Walt Disney World, where they answered questions from guests and served as grand marshals of the afternoon parade.

The crew -- Commander Scott Kelly, Pilot Charles Hobaugh, and mission specialists Tracy Caldwell, Al Drew, Morgan, Richard Mastracchio, Dave Williams -- returned to Earth on Aug. 21.

During the day, Morgan unveiled a new addition to the Mission: Space attraction -- a space-themed plaque featuring a quote from her reading, "Reach for your dreams . . . the sky is no limit."

Her plaque joins other messages from luminaries Neil Armstrong, John F. Kennedy, Carl Sagan, Charles Lindbergh, Stephen Hawking and Galileo.

Morgan was teacher in space Christa McAuliffe's backup for the 1986 Challenger mission. Their quotes are displayed side-by-side at the Mission: Space attraction.

"This event honors all of us teachers by helping children dream," Morgan said.

what kids took off from school? How many people do you really think took their kids out of school and the parents took the day off from work and payed $72 each to see an astronaut walk down the street? Goofey had the flu and Disney put them in instead.

I'd be embarrassed if I was an ASStroNOT and all I could find to do after a mission was go to Disney World. ANYBODY can go to Disney world.

I hope that they didn't have to pay to get in!

Where would they go after a mission? Hitting the bars would be tacky right now. Maybe a trip to Rome for an audience with the Pope would be nice. The media would love that. Is Vatican City going to have a space program too? **First Pope in Space** I like it.
