Fall Freebie: See KSC for free!

The company that operates NASA's visitor complex at Kennedy Space Center will swing open the turnstiles to the storied national spaceport later this month, admitting residents of Brevard County for free.

The normal admission charge -- $38 for adults and $28 for children ages 3 through 11 -- will be waived for Brevard County residents on Sept. 21, Sept. 22 and Sept. 23 as Delaware North Park Services shows its gratitude for 40 years of support from the local community.

The Eighth Annual Salute to Brevard Residents once again will involve a food drive. Guests are encouraged to bring canned goods and non-perishable food items to benefit the Central Brevard Sharing Center, North Brevard Charities, and South Brevard Sharing Center. The suggested donation is one food item or canned good per guest.

"At last year's event, more than 14,000 generous Brevard County residents brought a record 16 tons of food to support people in need in our community," Dan LeBlanc, Chief Operating Officer for Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, said in a news release. "We are proud to offer free admission to the Visitor Complex as a means to support the sharing centers, as well as to thank the people of Brevard for their support of Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex over the past four decades."

Brevard residents can bring up to five guests and only need to show proof of residency, in the form of a driver's license or utility bill, to gain free admission.

Free admission includes the opportunity to ride the new Shuttle Launch Experience, an incredible journey of vertically launching into space and orbiting Earth aboard NASA's Space Shuttle. Brevard County resident also will have complimentary access to the Kennedy Space Center Tour, 3D IMAX space films, Astronaut Encounter and the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame, which features historic spacecraft, simulator rides and the world's largest collection of personal astronaut mementos.

The visitor complex is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (The Astronaut Hall of Fame is open from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.) For more information, call 321-449-4444 or visit www.KennedySpaceCenter.com.

Can someone answer that for me?

Indeed I can, Rich. There is NO reason why you should pay to see a goverment agency. Stay home and save your money. Have a few beers and watch the Discovery Channel.

Taxpayers do not get into national parks, museums, the white house, etc. for free. Stockholders do not get into Disney for free. Why would you assume you should get into the KSC visitors center for free? KSC was a free exhibit at one time, but it was bare bones, now they have tours, IMAX theater and a shuttle ride, these things have to be paid for and NASA's less than 1% of the budget won't cover it.

The "union has never lied to you" that's a good one.
I'd like to hear you repeat this after the new contract has been accepted. You cannot be stupid enough to believe that you will get 12 weeks pay for not working. The union cannot make that promise unless they are prepared to fund it.
The only way you union workers will get paid for"not" working is to return to your old jobs and resume reducing productivity.

the "promise" was invented on ths blog. possibly by one of the poor souls that got canned for computer misuse at work. The "facts" are on the IAM website. No more, no less.
