Shuttle, station crews say goodbye

The joined crews of Endeavour and the International Space Station have parted ways, closing hatches between the linked spacecraft in advance of a potential early shuttle departure.

Expedition 15 commander Fyodor Yurchikhin told the shuttle astronauts to "come back again," and fellow Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kotov thanked the Endeavour crew for everything they did during a week of frenetic assembly work at the outpost.

U.S. station flight engineer Clay Anderson was a bit emotional. Anderson flew up to the outpost in June and the Endeavour astronauts represented his first visitors from home.

"You guys are my first crew and you'll always be my first crew," he said. "Thanks for everything."

Stay tuned for the Flight Day 11 Mission Status Briefing and a decision on whether Endeavour will depart the station Sunday. Click the link below the Mission Webcast headline to the right to watch the briefing live.
