See Atlantis from the beach if weather permits

If the weather cooperates, the 747 carrying Atlantis will fly along the beach low enough for the public to see.

"Our intention is to fly up the beach to share the orbiter and carrier," NASA spokeswoman Jennifer Tharpe said Monday. "If we're not fighting weather, the pilots have agreed to fly up the beach."

Pilots traditionally have flown along the beach from the Pineda Causeway to KSC. Tenative arrival time at KSC is 8:30 a.m., so you'll likely need to be on the beach north of the Pineda Causeway by at least 7:30 a.m.

Bad weather could still delay takeoff from Fort Campbell, Ky., or force the shuttle to head directly for the landing strip at KSC.
