Next station crew's tentative schedule

NASA is holding news briefings this hour to discuss the planning for the next International Space Station "increment," a six-month period beginning with the April launch of two new permanent crew members and a visiting space tourist.

During the briefing, the space station team introduced a slide listing the activities slated over those six months. Note that there's an outdated arrival date for the next space shuttle mission.

Some other dates on this chart are likely to move around as NASA makes adjustments to accommodate the delay in shuttle Atlantis' launch.

We share it here anyway since it gives a nice snapshot of the work ahead aboard the orbiting outpost. If you click on the image of the chart, you can see a bigger version.

Meanwhile, just after 2 p.m., a Progress cargo freighter loaded with trash undocked from the space station and is now headed for a fiery end when it re-enters Earth's atmosphere. If the station managers in the briefing make any more news, we'll let you know here.
