NASA's Earth Observatory site, which features awesome pictures of natural phenomena and stunning geography from orbit, won its third Webby Award this week. The Webby site is one of the most engaging time sucks online, as it links to worthy nominees and winners in a number of categories. The awards were presented Monday. This photo from the Earth Observatory site is of Mount Merapi in Indonesia. It was snapped by the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) on NASA's Terra satellite.
