This is why we have Range Safety

You hear a lot about Range Safety at the Cape -- they are the guys in the black hats who slow operations to a crawl with all of their onerous requirements. Like Flight Termination Systems, which enable range safety officers to send destruct signals to rockets that have careened out of control.

Take a look at the video below. It shows a 1996 Long March launch, and the resulting devastation to a community near China's prime spaceport. This is why we have Range Safety:
