Roofer seriously injured after KSC stand down

A day after NASA shut down operations at Kennedy Space Center to review a rash of recent accidents, a roofer was seriously injured in a fall from a building in the KSC Industrial Area.

An investigation also was launched into a March 4 accident during which shuttle Discovery's robot arm was damaged to the extent that it will have to be shipped back to its Canadian manufacturer for repairs.

Neither NASA nor its KSC base operations contractor were able to identify the injured worker, who was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center after falling and landing on his head or neck.
